Firstly, let me introduce myself,
My name is Linda and I am an accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work in Dublin City center and Tallaght village.
Through my own experiences in life and with a desire to understand more about the human condition I completed a 4 year training in Counselling and Psychotherapy achieving an Honours degree from Middlesex University.
From there I further enhanced my training with a Diploma in Traumatology from City Colleges, Dublin.
As my curiosity about human suffering grew, I realised that we all have a story to tell and a history to put into context. With that came the acknowledgement that our past experiences unconsciously shape our thoughts, feelings and relationships. This evoked in me a desire to deepen my understanding of human relationships through the means of Psychoanalysis.
I am currently a member of the Kleinian Association of Ireland where I attend regular lectures and supervision in Kleinian Psychoanalysis.
Approach
My core training is grounded in the Person-centered/Humanistic approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I have a keen interest in Psychoanalysis and the works of Melaine Klein which also informs my work.
Central to my working philosophy is the belief that the relationship which develops between client and therapist is key to effective therapy. When a relationship of trust begins to develop it opens a safe space for exploration, bringing awareness and possibilities for change.
